Harold Clurman.

Harold is called a "ferocious, awe-inspiring" director.

I think if he and e e cummings met, they'd definitely be friends.

"People ask me if I wanted to be a director. I said no, I didn't want to be anything. I wanted to have this theatre because I believe in things. I have a feeling about my life. I understand where people have their faults, and that's what I express through the theatre. I would do it as a painter, as a teacher, as a shoemaker! By the way, I'd be a great shoemaker."

That's the reason he makes my day, in a nutshell!

Billy Shakes!

Love this guy. His Complete Works sits on my shelf over my fireplace right next to my Bible. No joke. Re-reading lines from a play that I have read countless times will show me something new, much like re-reading a verse from a passage I have read countless times in the Bible. Call me crazy. I'm just in love - no big deal :)

"I pray you bear me henceforth from the noise and rumour of the field, where I may think the remnant of my thoughts in peace, and part of this body and my soul with contemplation and devout desires."

Singing in the Shower! "The shower head is really impressed."

I am definitely a shower singer. My song choice this morning was "Fever." Specifically this version:

Quotes. I keep a quotebook just to remember good quotes. And this quote fits this blog in a way, haha.

"If you haven't found something strange during the day, it hasn't been much of a day."
  - John A. Wheeler

Paired with a good song from a clip from a good movie:
Strange Things, Toy Story

Kids. Traveling. Hot weather. Laughing. All these little things give me unspeakable joy! I just went to Nicaragua for 8 days to work at Managua Christian Academy and kids, traveling, hot weather, and laughs were so abundant! Marc Broussard.

Nobody ever knows who I'm talking about when I mention this spectacular musician/artist. Today, someone did via a random facebook status that contained lyrics to Marc Broussard's song "Home"!

No matter how crappy a day in my life can get, Marc Broussard just turns it all around. People, get to know his music. Please-God-I'm-begging-you!

e e cummings

he is by far my favorite poet

and this is my favorite poem of his because i relate to it so well

since feeling is first
who pays any attention
to the syntax of things
will never wholly kiss you;
wholly to be a fool
while Spring is in the world
my blood approves,
and kisses are a better fate
than wisdom
lady i swear by all flowers. Don't cry
- the best gesture of my brain is less than
your eyelids' flutter which says
we are for each other; then
laugh, leaning back in my arms
for life's not a paragraph
And death i think is no parenthesis

Cheez It Party Mix!

I don't know what exactly it is but it's more than just the cheez its with a smidge of salt on them, or just the little air-pocketed white balls, or just the spiced pretzels, or just the tiny bread slices. This box of scrumptiousness really does make you say "Get your own box!" to anyone who tries to grab a handful without asking.

A good quote/bit of wisdom/verse.

Today, this one stuck out to me.

Psalm 17:6-8 (New International Version, ©2011)
 6 I call on you, my God, for you will answer me;
turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.
7 Show me the wonders of your great love,
you who save by your right hand
those who take refuge in you from their foes.
8 Keep me as the apple of your eye;
hide me in the shadow of your wings

Backstory: It's Friday night after a long and crazy busy week and my friend Candace and I are eating Chinese food, thinking of what we would like to do tonight. The options are:
1. Tango dancing at a free studio in the city.
2. Going to the art museums for free in the city.
3. Staying in and chillaxin.

This list quickly doesn't work out and we end up very whimsically deciding to go see the Justin Bieber movie "Never Say Never" because Candace has free movie tickets.....but we have to leave like right this instant and are not sure how to get the the theatre but we're doin' it!

We pull out of the parking lot and realize that we have to call our Justin Bieber look-a-like friend, Ryan, and see if we can kidnap him. He says "Ok, I'm in! Guess I gotta put some pants on then." He thought he was going to settle in for the night and have a boring Friday night. Ha!

So all of these little things get combined to make a great day: free stuff + spontaneity + GREAT movie + hilarious friends!

I am now a J Biebs fan. Can't deny it.

This one requires a backstory:

I am chilling at a friend's apartment tonight to watch a Beth Moore video (funny funny lady....she's definitely worth a blog post on her own!) and my friend Caylynn is there. Caylynn brought her cat Callie. Now, this is where you, the reader of this here blog, picks up on what I call the "awwwww cue". Any mention of something that sounds tiny, cute, cuddly, and FURRY just merits that verbal acknowledgment. So.....Caylynn brought her cat Callie (cue: awwwwww). There you go :)

But you'll find that your 'awwwww' may be cut short because this is a similar picture of what Callie looks like:

Callie is a hairless sphynx cat (if I'm correct). I couldn't stop watching her walk around the apartment and explore different areas with such a fearless curiosity! Because A, she just looked so WEIRD. B, her fearless curiosity amazed me. And C, lots of people were around and she wasn't afraid to get close to people. She would invade personal space by jumping over one person's lap to get from curious new place #1 to curious new place #2. Even the laps of those who really didn't like cats! I'm telling you--FEARLESS!
As we started the Beth Moore video, Caylynn gave my friend Monica and I a blanket.  To our surprise, Callie jumped right up onto it and curled up underneath it! She stayed there for the majority of the video and purred the whole time. Monica and I were goners! We fell in love. As weird as Callie still looks to me, she made my day. And my opinion of hairless cats ("that just isn't right. It's not natural.") has changed slightly. Callie may not be the cutest, furriest creature on the face of the earth but she has a personality that is irresistible!
